With this project, the change of location of the security checkpoints also entails a renovation of all their equipment. The new location is on the same check-in floor, behind the counters, allowing the passenger to follow a more logical and natural route.

The equipment installed in this new area is state-of-the-art, as it has Explosive Detection Systems for Cabin Baggage inspection machines, which prevent the removal of electronic devices and liquids (liquids allowed in carry-on baggage cannot exceed 100ml). It also has Automated Tray Return Systems machines, which allow trays carrying carry-on baggage to pass through the security checkpoint to be automatically returned to the starting area, speeding up the process and reducing waiting time.

This new area will have 19 arches and 38 passenger inspection lines, which will be put into service gradually. This will create a large open space, which will make it the largest security checkpoint in Spain.
